A Note on the Creation on the Poem: On September 14, 2025, 140 Jewish writers and publishing professionals gathered together for The Artists Against Antisemitism’s first Jewish Writers Mifgash. All attendees were given the prompts “I was,” “I am,” and “I will be,” along with a stack of sticky notes and a pile of pens. Throughout the day, attendees added words to the wall of poetry. Those words were collected and transformed into this poem, reflecting both the diversity and unity of the attendees. The poem was given to artist Arielle Zorger to interpret visually, and that piece of art was then paired with the text. That final collaboration is what you see here.
